Crockpot Smoked Red Beans

Authentic Cajun red beans and rice recipe. Perfect comfort food any time of the year!

  • 1 lbs. Red Kidney Beans dried
  • 2 lbs. Smoked Turkey Wings
  • 1 Tbsp. Olive Oil
  • 6-8 cups Water or Chicken Stock
  • 1/2 Tbsp Minced Garlic
  • 1 Yellow Onion (medium) diced
  • 1 Tbsp Slap Ya Mama
  • 2 tsp Tony's Creole Seasoning
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 2 Bay Leaves
  • Black Pepper to taste


  1. Heat the olive oil over medium high heat. Once hot cook the minced garlic and diced onion for a minute or two.

  2. Add your Tony's Creole Seasoning and onion powder to the garlic and onions, stir well, and cook for another 2-3 minutes or until fragrant.

  3. Pour the garlic and onion into the bottom of the crockpot. Turn your crockpot on high. (You can slow cook on high for 4.5 hours or on low for 8 hours)

  4. Add your smoked turkey wings on top of the garlic onion mixture.

  5. Pour your cups of water and/or chicken broth over the contents already in the pot. (I like to use a mix of half water half chicken broth. Either of them works!)

  6. Gently empty the dried red kidney beans to the crockpot.

  7. Add the Slap Ya Mama seasoning and bay leaves. Stir everything together to evenly distribute the seasoning in the food mixture.

  8. Cover the crockpot and let it cook.

  9. Half way through the cook time take the smoked turkey off of the bones, stir the ingredients together well, and cover again.

  10. Adjust your spicy level by adding black pepper, hot sauce, and/or more Slap Ya Mama to the beans. Enjoy!
