It’s been two years since the Jamieson clan took professional family pictures and I couldn’t be happier with the results! We used our favorite Shreveport, LA photographer Holly, at Holly J Photography. The outfits came together even better than I expected. Especially since I shopped for them less than 48 hours before the shoot. Eek! Talk about cutting it close. I love sharing the photos with you guys because you all support myself and my little family with so much love. Here are a handful of our Jamieson Family Photos 2021.Read More

Learning & Loving My Blackness
Being Black in America has always been a layered experience for me. Most of us go through multiple life stages of defining or questioning what Blackness looks like to us. My experience of Black in America was also coupled with being raised by a Caribbean family and Caribbean values. Learning and loving my Blackness is still a work in progress, but I’m so thankful for how far I have come.

Jordyn Turns 5!
My oldest baby girl turned FIVE years old earlier this week. Usually I post on the day of my girl’s birthdays, but this has been a pretty emotional one for me. I still remember finding out I was pregnant with Jordyn. I remember her little kicks in my belly, and how tiny she was when she entered this world. I don’t know how she is five years old and starting kindergarten this fall. Where has time gone? Why does time go by so quickly?Read More
Natural Hairstyles for Kids
How many of you or your children are on the natural hair journey? Taking care of natural hair can be a chore in itself, but it’s worth the work. My daughter started paying more attention to her hairstyles about a year ago. After I braided her hair she ran to the bathroom mirror to admire her hair and tell herself how beautiful she looks. This is when I decided to have a little more fun and switch her hairstyles up every week.
I post Jordyn’s new hairstyles on social media (Facebook and Instagram) on Mondays. The more styles I post the more people are interested in the hairstyles. On numerous occasions people have recreated the styles on their little ones and told me how much they love them. This is when I decided to keep track of her hairstyles to share with other parents for ideas.Read More
Eden Bodyworks Kids Review
Natural hair has become so popular these days and it makes my heart so happy! I discovered Eden Bodyworks hair care products about a year ago and have been in love ever since. You can only imagine my excitement when I realized there was an Eden Bodyworks Kids line. I immediately knew I would have to give the products a try, and do an Eden Bodyworks Kids review. I have been natural since August of 2007. In the last two to three years, I have been consistent with maintaining a healthy natural hair care routine. When I first started my natural hair journey there were not many natural hair products out there for us natural girls to choose from. However, in the last few years we have seen a spike in hair products for natural hair women like myself.
When I had my daughter in June of 2014 I knew I would keep her hair natural. Unfortunately, there were even fewer natural hair products for babies and children. We started off using other well-known natural hair care products for babies and children, but they weren’t formulated specifically for Black hair, and didn’t give us the results we needed. I used the Eden Bodyworks Kids line on Jordyn’s hair for the first time and I loved them. The shampoo suds felt smooth and washed out easily.
The post wash detangler and leave in conditioner moisturized and defined her curls. Her curls held their shape even after I finished combing them out. She kept looking at herself in the mirror and saying “I like my curly hair.” We decided to put her hair in her “Minnie Mouse” puffs as we call them, and used the coco shea Berry Natural Smoothing Gel to keep her hair in place. Jordyn was so happy with her hair style. She even posed for pictures before bed!
The days following Jordyn’s hair wash and styling day, we used the coco shea Berry Curly Creme for re-moisturizing her curls. I sprayed her hair with a water bottle first to add moisture to the curls, and locked in the moisture with the creme. The coco shea Berry Natural Smoothing Gel is perfect for re-styling her hair throughout the week as well.
To those of you who have natural hair babies and children, I highly recommend the Eden Bodyworks Kids line. Hopefully you find this Eden Bodyworks Kids Review to be helpful in your search for the right product. These products are light, they smell amazing, and make doing your child’s hair a little bit easier. Jordyn and I are both Eden Bodyworks natural hair product users, and we couldn’t be happier with our hair!
Natural Hair Goals
I have been natural a.k.a free of perms/relaxers since August 2007. If I’m going to be truthful, it had nothing to do with taking care of my hair, and everything to do with going away to college, and not being able to have them done regularly. The first few months without a relaxer was a rough transition, but as with everything else, I adjusted and it became the norm. Although my hair started to grow a lot faster and thicker than it ever had before, I was using curling irons and flat irons on my hair at least three times a week. I now know how terrible this was for my hair even when it was looking healthier. Read More
Self Care Sundays
Self care Sunday is one of the major parts of me taking better care of myself this year. Self care Sundays concentrates mostly on my physical outward appearance, but this ultimately connects to my mental and spiritual health as well. As they say, “when you look good you feel good”, and Read More
Vision Board 2017
One of my favorite activities to do for the new year is a vision board. Not only are they fun to do, they give you a visual goal to aim for and accomplish, in the new year. I usually make mine before the new year begins, but this year I finished it 5 days into the new year. Better late than never, right?Read More
