Happy Tuesday everyone! The youth center, on base, had a special for summer swim lessons this year. The lessons cost $25 per session. Each session is four weeks long with classes twice a week. We signed Jordyn up for the evening classes to be sure her Dad would be able to go with us most of the time. Although this was Jordyn’s first time taking official swim classes, by the second class, she looked like a natural. With only the help of floaties she was whizzing around the pool collecting toys, and taking “breaks” on the stairs. Read More
Special Olympics Montana: Spring Games 2017
The Special Olympics Montana Spring Games 2017 took place this past week on the University of Montana campus, in Missoula, MT. This is the first year I was able to go to the event with my team. Even though I have been coaching track and field for a few years I always had a scheduling conflict. This was also my first year coaching the adults (Purple Hornets) track and field team. We had such a great but exhausting time because we went non-stop for four days. Jordyn accompanied me for this trip too which quadrupled my level of tired. Ha! We took a charter bus to Missoula, MT for the games. It was Jordyn’s first time on a bus trip and she loved it. Between seeing the animals outside and movies playing on the bus, she loved every second.
Eden Bodyworks Kids Review
Natural hair has become so popular these days and it makes my heart so happy! I discovered Eden Bodyworks hair care products about a year ago and have been in love ever since. You can only imagine my excitement when I realized there was an Eden Bodyworks Kids line. I immediately knew I would have to give the products a try, and do an Eden Bodyworks Kids review. I have been natural since August of 2007. In the last two to three years, I have been consistent with maintaining a healthy natural hair care routine. When I first started my natural hair journey there were not many natural hair products out there for us natural girls to choose from. However, in the last few years we have seen a spike in hair products for natural hair women like myself.
When I had my daughter in June of 2014 I knew I would keep her hair natural. Unfortunately, there were even fewer natural hair products for babies and children. We started off using other well-known natural hair care products for babies and children, but they weren’t formulated specifically for Black hair, and didn’t give us the results we needed. I used the Eden Bodyworks Kids line on Jordyn’s hair for the first time and I loved them. The shampoo suds felt smooth and washed out easily.
The post wash detangler and leave in conditioner moisturized and defined her curls. Her curls held their shape even after I finished combing them out. She kept looking at herself in the mirror and saying “I like my curly hair.” We decided to put her hair in her “Minnie Mouse” puffs as we call them, and used the coco shea Berry Natural Smoothing Gel to keep her hair in place. Jordyn was so happy with her hair style. She even posed for pictures before bed!
The days following Jordyn’s hair wash and styling day, we used the coco shea Berry Curly Creme for re-moisturizing her curls. I sprayed her hair with a water bottle first to add moisture to the curls, and locked in the moisture with the creme. The coco shea Berry Natural Smoothing Gel is perfect for re-styling her hair throughout the week as well.
To those of you who have natural hair babies and children, I highly recommend the Eden Bodyworks Kids line. Hopefully you find this Eden Bodyworks Kids Review to be helpful in your search for the right product. These products are light, they smell amazing, and make doing your child’s hair a little bit easier. Jordyn and I are both Eden Bodyworks natural hair product users, and we couldn’t be happier with our hair!

Berry Smoothie Pops
Summer may be over a month away, but here in Montana, we’ve already had a few days of summer-like temperatures, and there couldn’t be a better time to eat a delicious, Berry Smoothie Pop! I take my little one to the park every day to run some of her energy off, and we always find ourselves coming back home looking for a delicious, quick, and more importantly, cold snack to eat. One of her favorite post park snacks is a fresh strawberry and blueberry mix. Have I mentioned how blessed I am to have a toddler who loves and eats fresh fruit like it’s candy? Read More
DIY Easter Basket
Easter 2017 is exactly three days away and I can’t believe how fast this year is flying by. My little one, Jordyn, will be three years old this June. Ever since she was born I have found a new hobby in do-it-yourself projects for toddlers. Read More
Vacation Checklist for Toddlers
Exactly one week from today we will be landing in sunny California for some much-needed family and friends time. I’ve been counting down this vacation since we booked the tickets a few months ago. We have so many great events planned out and restaurants to try for the first time. I haven’t been to California in a few years so this will be a nice refresher. Especially since I’ll be going to a few places in California for the first time. Example: San Diego.Read More
January 20th, 2017: Good News!
If you’re feeling like most of us are feeling, today, we could all use some good news. I believe this entire week was a slow torturous countdown to this day. The band-aid was finally ripped off and here we are trying to see how long it’ll take this wound to heal…if it heals at all.
I’ll be completely honest though, I was upset for about half an hour this morning, and I’ve since moved on. I’ve decided these next four years (hopefully sooner) I need to start putting more of my money where my mouth is. We can’t expect any President to “save us” from ourselves, but we sure as hell can work our behinds off to make the changes we want to see in this country.
I was too busy, out and about, running errands with my daughter and the dog this morning to take any time to watch the Inauguration. I’m actually happy I decided to do this, because I honestly believe it protected me from feeling so much negativity, today. Not the type of feeling of wanting change because of racism, sexism, etc, but the negativity of watching something that doesn’t make me happy, for no good reason. I hope you all did something to make yourself happy as well. If you didn’t…here go some great things that happened today to brighten your January 20th, 2017!
House Of Cards (season 5) promo:
Not only did House of Cards finally drop a date for season 5, the entire promotion is perfect marketing for this day. It’s an eerie version of the Pledge of Allegiance with a dark, upside down, American flag, outside of the U.S. Capitol. Check out the promo here.
Obama.org (Presidential Center) announcement:
President and First Lady (I’m not ready to say “former” yet) Obama shared a video on their Obama Foundation page talking about their next moves post Presidency. They are asking for people to send them ideas and suggestions for the new Presidential Center in Chicago, IL. If you want to get involved and make a difference…here’s a good start!
Women’s March countdown:
The Women’s March on D.C. will be held tomorrow afternoon. Oh man, what a big deal and show of solidarity this will be. Not only will this march take place tomorrow, but over 250 sister marches all over the world will be taking place in solidarity with everyone in D.C. I’m so excited to march here in Montana tomorrow afternoon with two of my close friends. If you would like more details on the march and how you can get involved, click here.
Black-ish Spinoff:
It has been said there will be a spin-off show around Yara Shahidi’s character, Zoey, while she is in college. The inspiration for the show is my favorite show of all time A Different World. DO YOU KNOW HOW EXCITED I AM FOR THIS? I really hope it all works out and ends up being everything I imagine it can be!
National Cheese Day:
I found this out on Twitter earlier this morning. It may seem trivial to some of you, but to me, it’s awesome, because y’all….I love cheese. Like, ridiculously love cheese. If I could add cheese to everything I eat I would. So…happy National Cheese Day y’all!
What good news what you like to share with all of us, today? It doesn’t have to be anything major just something that makes you happy. I will say this, even if none of these activities and events happened today; I woke up healthy, my loved ones are healthy, and life is good.
Happy Friday folks! Have a fun and safe weekend!
(Wishing my little one and I were in D.C. tomorrow so here’s a photo of us when we were there this past October)

Jordyn Denise: 2 Years 7 Months
Today, Jordyn is technically 2 years and 7 months old, but she’s close enough to 6 month mark to round down and tell people she’s 2 and a half, right? Either way, we’re rolling with saying “2 and a half” until a month before her 3rd birthday. Ha!Read More
Ares Chemo Update: 1st Month
Happy thankful Thursday, everyone! It’s been about six weeks since we first found out our beloved German Shepherd, Ares, has lymphoma. Lymphoma is cancer which causes the lymph-nodes all over the body to swell up. Without treatment they eventually swell up until they’re too large for the dog to handle and have to be put down. Post Election 2016 Cure: Wine Shop At Home!
Today is November 9th, 2016 which means the American Presidential election happened yesterday. I may, or may not have downed an entire bottle of wine, while watching the last two hours of the election results, last night. I also may, or may not have drunk directly from the bottle. It was a stressful last few months, it was an extremely stressful night last night, and I’m finally coming down from the stress a little bit today. I share all of this because I would like to think I found the cure to election season stress: WINE.
Okay, to be clear, wine is always the answer. However, the key to pre- and post- Election Day stress is drinking an entire bottle of wine to yourself, directly from the bottle, no questions asked. If you don’t do it this way then you’re doing it wrong and it won’t work. 😉
In all seriousness, this post is to share with you about my new business endeavor. As of last week I am officially a wine consultant for: Wine Shop At Home. My friend, Charelle, is a consultant and she brought me on board. Considering I love wine, I figured, how could this be wrong? Lol. But I honestly joined to learn more about wine while in the process of selling it and growing my own business. I tend to like wine specifically for dessert reasons. I’m hoping to learn more details about how to pair wine with certain foods and understand what goes into the different tastes of each unique bottle.
With Thanksgiving being in two-ish weeks, and Christmas a little over a month away, this would be the perfect time to order some wine for your Thanksgiving dinner, or buy wine for awesome Christmas presents. You can order gift baskets, stem ware, or even personalize bottles of wine for your loved ones. (I’m not going to lie I’m pretty excited about the personalized wine bottles LOL) I will also start doing wine parties soon, and would love to set a few of them up for my family and friends, to share with their extended family and friend circles.
I will showcase a new wine on my, Instagram and Twitter accounts every Wednesday, starting next week Wednesday, November 16th, with the hashtag #WineWednesday.
In the mean time, order wine, share wine, drink wine, and be merry! Here is my website for those of you who would like it to copy and paste into a new tab or browser: www.wineshopathome.com/briennejamieson.
Happy Wine Wednesday people!
