There’s something about using fresh fruits to kick up the flavor notch on a drink that never gets old. And the best part is how easy it is to make your own simple syrup like this deliciously fresh Blueberry Simple Syrup recipe. You only need three ingredients, a pot, and a stove. Yes, it’s truly that simple giving new meaning to its name simple syrup.

15 Black Character Children’s Books

We’re half through Black History Month 2022 and it’s been one to remember already. One way we celebrate this month is by making sure our girls read books with characters who look like them. As most of us know we understand how important reading is for a child’s development and learning. It’s equally as important for our children to see books with characters who look and live similar lives to them. Just as it is important for them to see diversity in all aspects with characters. For those of you who are looking for Black character books for your child’s library- this 15 Black Character Children’s Books list is for you!

2022 Vision Board Party

Friday evening kicked off the first 2022 event for Black Women of Barksdale. We hosted our first ever 2022 Vision Board Party and it was truly a great time. The way covid numbers are spreading right now it was the perfect intimate group size. A smaller group size allowed us to have craft space, and fully engage throughout the evening.

Jamieson Family Photos 2021

December 9, 2021 Leave a Comment

It’s been two years since the Jamieson clan took professional family pictures and I couldn’t be happier with the results! We used our favorite Shreveport, LA photographer Holly, at Holly J Photography. The outfits came together even better than I expected. Especially since I shopped for them less than 48 hours before the shoot. Eek! Talk about cutting it close. I love sharing the photos with you guys because you all support myself and my little family with so much love. Here are a handful of our Jamieson Family Photos 2021.

November 5, 2021 Leave a Comment

It’s almost the first weekend of November which means it’s time for me to put up my Christmas decorations! I am absolutely the person who starts celebrating Christmas the day after Halloween until the new year.  I also believe in sipping on a delicious adult beverage and singing Christmas songs while decorating my home. As you can guess, my drink of choice this year is a delicious Apple Pie a la Mimosa.

This strawberry simple syrup recipe is as simple as the title. It only consists of three ingredients and is tastier than any store bought simple syrup you can find. We all know homemade naturally tastes better. The fresh strawberries in this simple syrup give any mixed drink the boost it needs. It adds a sweet fruity taste to cocktails and/or mocktails.

10 Book Goal for 2021

10 book goal for 2021

Since 2018 I have set a goal to read at least 10 books a year. And since 2018 I have not reached my 10 book goal LOL. I start off so strong for the year with two to three books then life happens and next thing I know it’s a new year and I’m making the same goal. This year I promised myself I would stop making excuses and reach my 10 book goal for 2021. Not only did I accomplish this goal but I did so half way through the year. Although this may seem small to some this is a big deal to me. I absolutely love reading and getting back to what I love to do has made a big difference in other aspects of my life as well.

Jamieson Summer Vacation 2021

July 6, 2021 Leave a Comment

Jamieson summer vacation 2021

We spent our Jamieson summer vacation 2021 in Florida last month. My little family and I packed up the car and road tripped there for a much needed 3 week vacation. This was our first time stopping in Mobile, Alabama instead of Pensacola, Florida as our half way point. I’m not sure if everyone was taking family vacations the same weeks as us but hotel rooms were either sold out or super expensive. As they say, if there’s a will then there’s a way, and we found exactly what we needed when we needed it for our trip.
