I got the chance to go home and visit my Chicago family for the first time in over a year and a half. Out of everyone in my family the main focus of my trip was to see my Grandma. If you know me then you know I am the definition of a Grandma’s girl. She is my main girl. Going so long without seeing her was definitely the toughest part of this pandemic. However, as hard as it was to not see her, I am thankful for her continued health throughout this entire ordeal. I, unfortunately, know quite a few people who can not say the same regarding their loved ones this last year. Being able to give her a masked up huge hug multiple times is exactly what my soul needed.Read More
Jordyn Is A 2nd Grader!
Jordyn is a 2nd grader! We completed our first full year of virtual school, and although it had its challenges we made it through! I say we because being a teacher while also parenting a toddler isn’t the easiest job in the world LOL. However, as with everything, there were also pros like being able to wake up late. Jordyn could pick out her outfit to wear whatever we wanted. And we all we able to enjoy each other‘s company. Riley especially loved having Jordyn was home every day to play with and hang out. They are truly best friends and it’s adorable. Jordyn will be going back to school in person come fall and she’s looking forward to it as much as we are. I know she misses her friends and teachers.Read More
To say the year 2021 has started off with a bang would be an understatement. If you’ve been keeping up with the winter storm that hit the south last weekend then you’ve seen the destruction it left behind. Living in the Shreveport, LA area ourselves means we were directly impacted by Snowpocalypse 2021 too. We lost water and power Wednesday evening. The power was out for about 16 hours which is MUCH better than what others have endured. We lost water from Wednesday evening to Saturday afternoon. And it’s only a few hours of water here and there.Read More
Southern University Museum of Art at Shreveport
Three years ago while still living in Montana, I came across a section in Essence magazine that caught my eye. Two pages of guide to Black historical sites all over the state of Louisiana. This was perfect timing considering we knew Shreveport, Louisiana would be our next base assignment. I immediately searched the list for Shreveport locations and to my surprise found two of them. One of those locations is the Southern University Museum of Art at Shreveport. I finally had the opportunity to visit this museum last week in celebration of Black history month.Read More
Jamieson Family Vacation in Florida
We spent the 2020 holiday season in Florida with my father-in-law and my husband’s extended family. It was a much needed family vacation in Florida after spending most of the year at home. We usually travel at least 3 times a year. But Florida was our one and only trip for 2020 thanks to you know what. We decided to road trip instead of flying to travel safely around less people. The good news about not traveling all year my husband had PLENTY of vacation days saved up. We were able to stay for about a month. A month of family time, good food, belly laughs, and relaxation.Read More

2020 Celebrations + Lessons, 2021 Goals
We made it to the end of 2020 everyone! Whew. What an emotionally wild ride it has been. From the lowest of lows to some life changing highs, this year has been the year of immense growth. In all aspects of life. It has also been a year that has exposed more hard truths than I’ve ever experienced in my 32 years of life. I wanted to share my own personal 2020 celebrations and lessons in addition to my goals for 2021. Keeping these ideas and memories documented is important to me. I want to return to this post a year, 5 years, 10 years from now and see how I applied what I learned and how much more I’ve accomplished since.Read More
Honey Roasted Garlic Brussel Sprouts
How many of you hated brussel sprouts when you were younger? *raises hand* I’m pretty sure I hated 99% of vegetables as a child. Which is funny considering how much I love 90% of vegetables as an adult. I’m not kidding when I say I made roasted brussel sprouts and mushrooms for a snack the other day. Who am I? Lol. One of my friends posted a status about her love of brussel sprouts a while ago. It dawned on me I haven’t tried brussel sprouts since I was little and I hated them. Her status convinced me to give them another try and I’m so happy I did. These honey roasted garlic brussel sprouts are currently one of my favorite veggie snacks.Read More
Happy 1st Birthday, Riley!
April 19th, 2018 at 12:02pm I gave birth to a beautiful chubby cheeked, 7 lbs and 12 oz. baby girl. She showed up with a head full of hair and a side eye that can still kill to this day. (LOL) She’s also my snuggle bug. We have been snuggling and hugging since she came into this world. I’m still not sure how 365 days have gone by already, but here we are on April 19th, 2019. Happy 1st birthday, Riley!Read More
5 Year Anniversary
Happy 5 year anniversary to us! On this day five years ago my husband and I said “I do”. Here we are two baby girls later and still finding ways to connection with one another. We often talk about how well we work because we’re a team. With each passing day and year we are able to go to the drawing board and be better than we were before.
This year will consist of so many changes for our family. Great changes but plenty of them. The biggest change of all: waiting for our second baby girl to make her entrance into this world. Unfortunately, this is the first wedding anniversary we will spend apart. Considering we’re a military family we should be counting our blessings that this is the first anniversary we’re spending away from one another. But it doesn’t make it any easier. Especially when I’d love to simply be in the presence of my favorite human being.Read More
