3 Years, 11 Months, & 13 Days..

August 8, 2017 Comment : 1

We brought Ares home August 19th, 2013 and had to say goodbye to him August 1st, 2017. We got to spend 3 years, 11 months, and 13 days with him. The time was way too short, but we have so many beautiful and hilarious memories. I could say it was by luck, but it wasn’t, it was destiny that Ares became a Jamieson. He was just as silly and crazy as everyone else in this household haha.

Kris and I had been talking about getting a dog once we moved into our home on base. I was at work when I received a text from, Krissy (my military BFF a.k.a Sister Wife), about a Facebook post she had recently tagged me in. The post was of a three month old German Shepherd named, Bentley, at the time. I couldn’t get over his adorable little face, and one big ole floppy ear. LOL. I sent the information to Kris and asked him to meet me at the guy’s house to meet the pup. No sooner than I walked across the street to greet him, he ran straight into my arms.

The guy told us we were the second couple interested in the pup, but after seeing Ares’ instant attachment to us, he knew Ares was meant to be ours. By 6 p.m. that evening we were the proud dog parents of a beautiful German Shepherd puppy. I remember so many of these details because Ares was our first baby. Before Jordyn, Ares was our fur baby, or our practice baby as we liked to call him.

It’s been exactly one week since we said goodbye to our fur-baby. I still haven’t found the perfect words to describe the type of sadness you feel after losing a furry family member. But it hurts more than I could ever expect. Even though we’ve known for months that the cancer would eventually come back, it completely catches you off guard when it does. Especially since Ares’ cancer came back SO soon after ending treatments and so aggressively.

3 years, 11 months, 13 days

There’s a strange silence that always follows me around the house. I never paid attention to how simple things like his breathing pattern while he slept was standard background noise for me while I watched t.v. on the couch or blogged late at night. Or how many every day habits revolved around him. Like, making sure the back door is locked at night, keeping his water bowl full, expecting his face to be in mine while I napped on the couch, etc. The silence and daily habits are constant reminders of how much the littlest of things count.

The hardest part of it all has been Jordyn not understanding that he’s gone. She’s only three years old and doesn’t understand the concept of death. Although it’s tough to hear her ask “is Ares at the doctor?” or “are we going to see Ares?” I’m thankful she’s young enough to not understand the sadness of death. Jordyn is an only child and Ares was her best friend. Whether they were playing fetch in the hallway or making each other crazy, she loved having her big fur brother around.

I’m thankful I’m the typical crazy picture taking Mom, because I have so many awesome pictures and videos of Ares over the years. Even some hilarious videos as recent as a week before his death of him and Jordyn having the time of their lives together. Pictures truly are worth a thousand words, and I’m SO thankful to have them.

Ares’ personality was as big as his heart. You never knew what type of emotion or dog talking you were going to get each day haha. It’s what made him so unique. He was this huge monster of a dog with the sweetest personality. A personality that is deeply missed and will never be forgotten. I’m sure one day in the future we will get another dog to join our family. But for now, we’re going to spend the next few months remembering him, and how special he was and always will be to this family.

Rest in peace, bud. We miss you oh so much. <3

Ares Chemo Update: 1st Month

January 12, 2017 Leave a Comment

Happy thankful Thursday, everyone! It’s been about six weeks since we first found out our beloved German Shepherd, Ares, has lymphoma. Lymphoma is cancer which causes the lymph-nodes all over the body to swell up. Without treatment they eventually swell up until they’re too large for the dog to handle and have to be put down. Read More

Jordyn’s 1st Snow Adventure

January 20, 2016 Leave a Comment

Yesterday evening the weather here in Montana was finally above freezing passed 5pm. This means we were able to finally take Jordyn out to play in the snow for the first time, ever. Man oh man, did she enjoy herself! We were curious if she was going to like it at all (confused, too cold, unimpressed etc.) but she LOVED it. It only took her less than 10 minutes to figure out what her favorite part was: eating the snow. The story behind her tasting the snow for the first time is pretty funny too. She was walking in a deeper part of the snow and fell forward. While lying face down in the snow she decided to give it a lick and the rest is history LOL.

IMG_2120

Jordyn wasn’t the only “child” of ours who enjoyed running and playing in the snow either. Ares, was having the time of his life chasing after his ball and was rather confused at me throwing snow balls at him. Now that I think about it, so was Jordyn, because every time I threw a snow ball at her she gave me this look like “okaaay” then proceeded to eat the snow. I did however enjoy throwing snowballs at my husband. (And yes, I threw snowballs at my one and a half year old and the dog 😉 )

We hung out and played in the snow until little miss Jordyn’s cheeks (and nose) turned a nice rose color. However, if she would have had it her way we would’ve stayed out there for another two hours. She didn’t want to walk inside the house because she knew that meant play time was over haha. It’s supposed to snow again sometime this week. Hopefully the temperature stays above freezing again so we can go out there and play again.

Have a great Tuesday evening everybody!

Jamieson Fall Photos 2015

October 26, 2015 Leave a Comment

We took our annual Jamieson family fall photos in mid-October here in Montana. In case you are wondering how to get a one year old child and two year old puppy to sit still and smile for pictures the trick is: it’s an impossible request. However, if you’re lucky enough it’ll look like everyone is cooperating in the pictures when in reality you just caught them taking a breather before causing havoc again LOL. But in all of the craziness and the million times we said “say cheese!” it is always worth it for the final results and the memories. We’re going to miss our photographer/best friend, Krissy, so much when she moves next month. Thanks again for so many amazing pictures and memories Krissy a.k.a Sister Wife! We love you so much!

Here is a new peek of my favorite pictures from our family photos 🙂

This last picture is one of my favorites because it is a great depiction of how the shoot actually went with Ares and Jordyn LOL. It also looks like Jordyn is being elevated by Ares tail at this angle. It’s just a great picture over all!

Happy Monday everyone!

Jordyn Denise : 1 year 4 months

October 19, 2015 Comments : 2

Miss Jordyn Denise is growing up and becoming such a little lady, or “little person” as my husband and I like to call her. It’s amazing how much she seems to learn in only one day. While we were home in September, her Auntie Andye taught her a dance/ballet move, as well as getting her to say “auntie” a few times.

I taught her to say “up” a little while back when she wanted to be picked up instead of yelling and whining. That lasted for a while until we taught her how to say “please” or “tease” in Jordyn language, when asking for anything in general. We have recently added the word “thank you” to her vocabulary with the last week or two. Now, whenever you hand her something (or she hands you something) she always says “taint tou” and it’s the cutest and sweetest “thank you” I’ve ever heard in my life :-). I also can’t wait for her to be old enough to sign up for gymnastics because she’s always balancing on her head trying to flip herself over.

IMG_0003

Jordyn has also recently learned how to open the doors… yeah we weren’t too excited about that, but she sure was haha. She loves giving sweet kisses, dancing her little heart out, eating like a big girl in her high chair, playing/taking walks outside, wrestling with Ares, and playing “where is Jordyn?” with Daddy and Mommy. Did I mention she likes to mimic Ares and crawls around on all fours trying to lick us? LOL. Here is a picture of her following him around on all fours..

IMG_0133

She is such a happy baby and so much fun to be around. She is hands down one of the funniest little kids I’ve ever met in my entire life. She has plenty of her Daddy and I’s (more so her Daddy haha) silliness. Jordyn is such a ham and has even developed a “fake” laugh to mock those around her when they laugh. I couldn’t be more thankful to hang out with such a cool little person every single day. She continues to teach us how to love unconditionally and be thankful for the little things that in turn are the big things in life. I’ll be back in a few months for another update on this smart little munchkin. Until then, here is a picture of her chasing me around the Halloween store the other night with a sword LOL. And yes, it’s blurry because I was running backwards from her hahaha..

Happy birthday, Mommy!

July 26, 2015 Comments : 2

I know, I was just here wishing my youngest sister a happy birthday, but today is my Mommy’s turn for a birthday shout out. My Mom is turning a young 21 years old for the 27th time ;-). This is the 2nd year in a row we’ve gotten to spend your birthday together here in Montana. Today will be nothing short of fun, filled with great food and laughter. You deserve so much more, but one day I’ll be able to buy you a vacation somewhere with sandy beaches and icy beverages :-).

You’re the best Mom anyone could ask for. You always put our needs and wants before yours (even me at almost 27 years old). If there is something I need or want, you do your best to make it happen. From cooking our favorite meals when you visit us, watching Jordyn for us to go on date nights, to being complete goofballs when we’re together. I couldn’t ask for a better first best friend.

Mommy2
It goes without saying you’re an amazing Grandma to, Jordyn. She does not want for ONE single thing, because I’m pretty sure she owns every baby gadget, contraption, and/or toy there is to offer thanks to you LOL. From her excitement of seeing you in the morning when we visit you/you visit us, to her contagious laughter when you two are playing, she loves you more than you could know already.

Mommy

Thank you for being the world’s best Mommy and Grandma a girl could ever ask for. My friends have even adopted you as their mother/grandma for their children lol. I pray you enjoy your day, today, and God blesses you to see many many more. Oh, and you know Ares will even have some loving for you whether you want it not haha.

Mommy3

Happy birthday, Madre! We love you sooooo much! 🙂

Jordyn is 11 Months Old!

May 18, 2015 Comment : 1

This is my last official “monthly” blog post of, Jordyn, and I can’t believe how fast it has all happened. She was 4 months old when I started this blog. It’s all gone by so fast it almost seems like a blur. It was exactly one year ago, as of yesterday, I had my baby shower in Illinois, and here we are exactly one month from her first birthday. As sad as I am that my baby girl is growing so fast, I’m so happy and grateful she’s been blessed to grow so gracefully and lovingly. Here is a picture of her trying whipped cream for the first time…in case you can’t tell, she is definitely a fan!)

IMG_3087

Today, we are leaving for our first official long distance road trip, by car. The hubby has to go to Salt Lake City for a class/training this week, and we’re tagging along, to not only get a break from Great Falls, but to spend some much needed quality time with our friends, the Jones’, who live in Utah. The Jones’ moved back to Utah a week and half before I went into labor with little miss Jordyn. This will be the first time they get to her, and she will finally get to meet them. I’m so excited all of our girls get to finally meet each other! 🙂

This last month, Jordyn has for sure found her feet. She hasn’t gotten brave enough to let go and walk on her own, but I swear this child is going for the world record of “fastest almost walking baby.” No, seriously, if you put her down at the table, and blink, she’s standing in front of the entertainment center giving you the “I’m innocent” look.

IMG_3311 Jordyn is at the age where she definitely knows who Daddy and Mommy are, as well as, enjoying mocking Daddy and Mommy. She has also become very vocal and uses hand motions to tell you when she does or doesn’t want something. Either way, no matter what emotion she may be feeling at the time, you can be sure it won’t be a secret.

As usual she looooves her big brother too. When she sees him walking towards her she gets the BIGGEST smile on her face. If he decides to give her some wonderful licks in the process, she giggles her little heart out. These two are the cutest double trouble you will ever see.

IMG_3085

Jordyn went swimming for the first time last weekend and oh man does she love the water! She splashed and kicked the water until she was “all wrinkled” as Dennis the Menace would say. She swam with her BFF, Norah, who wasn’t the biggest fan of the water at first, but warmed up to it and enjoyed it herself.

Have I mentioned Jordyn LOVES music. This little girl will dance and shake her head to whatever song is playing. However, she REALLY boogies down to the theme songs for the shows “A Different World” ( the Aretha Franklin intro) and “Psych.” It is both adorable and hilarious to watch.

I hope you’ve enjoyed the monthly series leading up to Miss Jordyn Denise’s first birthday. After her first birthday post/update, I will post Jordyn blog updates every 2-3 months, or share funny stories as they happen.

Say a prayer for safe travels to, around, and from Salt Lake City for us. See you all again in a month for the big, 1st birthday post!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Ares!

May 13, 2015 Leave a Comment

Ares a.k.a Ares Monster turns a whole two years old today! I can’t believe we’ve had this crazy, hyper, lovable, pup since he was 3 months old. Like most fur children he drives us crazy, but we love him to death.  I’m sure his mobile baby sister will have a few hugs for him. (By hugs, I mean trying to grab his paws and his ears while I yell at her to be nice to big brother) Or try to feed him her tube of buttpaste diaper cream. It’s all love, right?

I decided to look up a recipe for “pupcakes” on Pinterest to make him for his big day. I wanted to make him a treat of some sort for his birthday last year, but I was big and pregnant, and opted for the easier approach…we bought him some pig ears. He loves those! Since I had the “time and energy” to make him a homemade treat this year, I did just that. Talk about self control and looking depressed. Hahaha!

I think it’s safe to say this big ole bear of a puppy enjoyed his big day :-). We love you, Ares!

Jordyn is 10 Months Old!

April 18, 2015 Leave a Comment

Little Miss Jordyn is only two months away from turning 1 year old…and I tear up every time I think about it. My Mom and I have been planning her 1st birthday party for the last month and a half, and I’m getting so excited for the day to get here! I’m amazed at how much she has learned and grown in the last month. She took five steps using her little walker toy the other night and I about jumped out of my skin with excitement haha. She can prop herself up on her knees and rock back and forth/dance her little heart out, but she refuses to actually crawl. I’m starting to think she takes pleasure in watching me run around the room looking for items to place in front of her to encourage her to crawl. At this rate, it’s looking like she may skip crawling and go straight to walking. Once she is either crawling, walking, or doing both, we are going to have our work cut out for us, because she is a busy body!

IMG_2853

She’s officially at the stage where she can eat pretty much what we eat for dinner just blended up. She has her picky moments when she doesn’t want much to eat, but 95% of the time she eats with NO problem. We all ran into our first stomach bug last week/weekend. Jordyn caught the stomach bug on Wednesday evening and by Saturday, Kris and I both had it with her. It was a rough few days, but we all made it through. Thank God it was milder stomach bug and not a more serious one. I hated seeing my baby girl so miserable and tired. These days she’s doing a lot of shaking her head “no” and/or trying to make herself dizzy. I can thank her wonderful Dad for teaching her this little trick. Speaking of her Dad, she’s still “Da-da-da-da-da”-ing it up almost all day. She used to laugh when I would tell her “say MA-MA,” but now she doesn’t even react anymore. She just stares at me like I am the most boring person in the world, and she wishes I would leave her alone already. I know, she’s sweet like that.

IMG_2842

The older she gets, the closer her and big brother Ares are becoming. If he could love on her all day long he would. It’s adorable to watch, but annoying to have to wipe his kisses off of her constantly lol. I’m happy he’s so protective of her and I’m happy she loves him just as much. I have a feeling Jordyn will be walking this month, and something tells me the two of them will be getting into a lot of trouble together ;-).

IMG_2637

We’ll see you guys in a month for another update!
