In 2019 we started a tradition of taking a road trip before the new school year starts. We went to Lafayette, LA in 2019 and explored the area while eating good food. We obviously weren’t able to plan one for 2020 due to pandemic reasons. This year our before school road trip 2021 landed us in the Frisco/Plano, TX area. It was the perfect family mini vacation spot. Especially for those of us with little ones still. Frisco, TX is about 3.5 hours away from us so it was the perfect distance for a mini road trip with a 3 year old and 7 year old.

Happy transformation Tuesday everyone! If you missed last week’s post, for every Tuesday in the month of March, I’m sharing a new transformation area in my home. I kicked off last week with my entry way makeover. This week is dedicated to the kids playroom makeover project. I say project because it has been many months of finding the correct pieces and I still have a few more details to add. Three years ago while still living in Montana, I came across a section in Essence magazine that caught my eye. Two pages of guide to Black historical sites all over the state of Louisiana. This was perfect timing considering we knew Shreveport, Louisiana would be our next base assignment. I immediately searched the list for Shreveport locations and to my surprise found two of them. One of those locations is the Southern University Museum of Art at Shreveport. I finally had the opportunity to visit this museum last week in celebration of Black history month.

We made it to the end of 2020 everyone! Whew. What an emotionally wild ride it has been. From the lowest of lows to some life changing highs, this year has been the year of immense growth. In all aspects of life. It has also been a year that has exposed more hard truths than I’ve ever experienced in my 32 years of life. I wanted to share my own personal 2020 celebrations and lessons in addition to my goals for 2021. Keeping these ideas and memories documented is important to me. Happy national chili month! I know, who knew this even existed, but there’s a national day for everything and everyone these days. This is one I will celebrate proudly because it involves me eating.
