Jamieson Christmas Photos 2020

December 24, 2020 Leave a Comment

I’ve been playing around with my camera these last few weeks trying to figure out the capabilities. This Christmas makes one year since I’ve had my Canon Rebel T6 and only three months I’ve had my 50mm “fifty nifty” Canon lens. I took some beautiful photos for my Merry Berry Christmosas earlier this month and decided to try my hand at Christmas photos of my girls. Although there are slight adjustments to be made, I couldn’t be happier with how the Jamieson Christmas Photos 2020 turned out!

Monte Cristo Sandwich

Christmas is a few days away which means ham is likely to be on your menu. Whether it’s a dinner for one or four, ham is a Christmas dish favorite. One of my favorite things about ham is the dishes you can make with the leftovers. From soups to sandwiches the options are endless. One of my favorite sandwiches is a classic Monte Cristo stacked with fresh slices of ham and turkey too! This sweet and savory sandwich is guaranteed to be a meal anyone in your home will love.

Christmas Festivities & Fun 2020

December 14, 2020 Leave a Comment

This weekend was full of Christmas festivities and fun with some of our favorite people. We got to see the base chapel light up the huge Christmas tree on base. Where they served cookies, hot cider, hot cocoa, and other delicious treats afterwards. Of course makes required. Even for the smallest of interactions like Jordyn getting to run around with other kids for the first time in months. It felt nice to be in a place where everyone was masked up and doing their part during this awful pandemic. Here are a few pictures of us from that day.

Merry Berry Christmosas

December 8, 2020 Comments : 2

Merry two and a half weeks until Christmas! Although we aren’t having the usual holiday get togethers there’s never a wrong time our amount of people for mimosas. I’m talking Merry Berry Christmosas to be exact. These holiday drinks are the taste of Christmas in a champagne glass. They’re ridiculously easy to make and are a fun way to incorporate the Christmas spirit mood for those not feeling it just yet.

salt dough Christmas ornaments

Tis’ the season to be merry and decorate everything. The house, Christmas tree, fire place mantel, dining room, etc.! But one of my favorite holiday DIY projects is making salt dough Christmas ornaments. They are super easy to make and all of the ingredients can be found right in your cabinets or pantry. The only things you need to buy, if you don’t already own them, is paint, pipe cleaners/string, and mod podge.

Jordyn’s Virtual School Corner

August 19, 2020 Comments : 2

jordyn's virtual school corner

Tomorrow begins the start of the new school year for Jordyn. I have a first grader, and I’m still in disbelief about how fast times flies. They say it goes fast when you’re having fun, but it goes fast when you’re living everyday life. As most parents or guardians of school aged children know, this year is VERY different for one reason: Covid-19. Instead of doing the hybrid school model we opted to keep Jordyn home for 100% virtual schooling. While figuring out where she will sit to concentrate during school hours I decided to make the corner in our dining room Jordyn’s virtual school corner. To give her some sense of separation between school and home. She loves the way it looks! I hope she enjoys it throughout the school year too.Read More

Learning & Loving My Blackness

July 7, 2020 Leave a Comment

Being Black in America has always been a layered experience for me. Most of us go through multiple life stages of defining or questioning what Blackness looks like to us. My experience of Black in America was also coupled with being raised by a Caribbean family and Caribbean values. Learning and loving my Blackness is still a work in progress, but I’m so thankful for how far I have come.

“The American idea of racial progress is measured by how fast I become white.”

5 Lessons Quarantine Taught Me

May 12, 2020 Comments : 4

Most of us have been in some form of quarantine, isolation, shelter-in-place, since the end of March due to Covid-19. It has been a learning experience to say the absolute least. A rollercoaster of emotions filled with a lot of questions. We’ve learned details about ourselves, families, jobs, neighbors, etc. Through all of the uncertainty quarantine 2020 taught me many valuable lessons. Lessons I’m going to carry with me forever.

Meatballs from Scratch

September 18, 2019 Leave a Comment

meatballs from scratch

I shared a homemade spaghetti sauce recipe two weeks ago on the blog. Since then a few people have asked me if I ever make meatballs for my homemade sauce instead of breaking the meat up in the sauce. The answer is, yes! I don’t do it often for preference and time purposes in my family. However, there’s nothing like a homemade meatball and spaghetti sauce to hit the Italian comfort food spot. I’m not Italian and don’t claim to make authentic Italian meatballs, but I do make delicious meatballs from scratch that people will love. Read More
