We’re half through Black History Month 2022 and it’s been one to remember already. One way we celebrate this month is by making sure our girls read books with characters who look like them. As most of us know we understand how important reading is for a child’s development and learning. It’s equally as important for our children to see books with characters who look and live similar lives to them. Just as it is important for them to see diversity in all aspects with characters. For those of you who are looking for Black character books for your child’s library- this 15 Black Character Children’s Books list is for you!Read More
I’m proud to collaborate with more than 30 Black recipe developers as we celebrate Black History Month 2022. This Virtual Potluck explores Black food through the lens of Afrofuturism. Our collaboration of recipes explores the intersection of the Black diaspora via culture, future, geopolitics, imagination, liberation, culture, and technology.
Cook and share the inspiring recipes by checking out the list of participants below. Follow each participant and continue the discussion with us on social media using the hashtag #BHMVP2022!
Black History Month 2022 is here which means it’s time to celebrate everything and everyone Black. As the poet Theresa tha S. O. N. G. B. I. R. D so eloquently stated “Black is an adjective, adverb, color, and noun.” For this years Black History Month I’ve joined a collaboration with Eat The Culture to contribute a recipe centered around Afrofuturism. I decided to create this beautiful and refreshingly delicious Dragon Fruit Pineapple Rum Punch. It’s a dose of South Africa meets the Caribbean and I can’t wait for you all to try it!Read More

Friday evening kicked off the first 2022 event for Black Women of Barksdale. We hosted our first ever 2022 Vision Board Party and it was truly a great time. The way covid numbers are spreading right now it was the perfect intimate group size. A smaller group size allowed us to have craft space, and fully engage throughout the evening.Read More

It’s been two years since the Jamieson clan took professional family pictures and I couldn’t be happier with the results! We used our favorite Shreveport, LA photographer Holly, at Holly J Photography. The outfits came together even better than I expected. Especially since I shopped for them less than 48 hours before the shoot. Eek! Talk about cutting it close. I love sharing the photos with you guys because you all support myself and my little family with so much love. Here are a handful of our Jamieson Family Photos 2021.Read More
Hello everyone! It’s been two weeks since I’ve posted on the blog because it’s been a BUSY month. Between event planning, holiday duties, everyday responsibilities and self care, time has been flying. I decided to do an old school blog post. You know the throwback blog posts we loved to read where the author was simply sharing their everyday thoughts in long or short form. So I decided to make this November 2021 catch up post to, well, catch everyone up on my end.Read More

I also believe in sipping on a delicious adult beverage and singing Christmas songs while decorating my home. As you can guess, my drink of choice this year is a delicious Apple Pie a la Mimosa.Read More
Last week was my daughter Jordyn’s fall break. The kids getting a week off for fall break here in Louisiana is easily one of my favorite parts of living here. We got no such thing growing up in suburban Illinois (boooo!) so we’re definitely taking advantage while we live here. This year we made a last minute decision to spend fall break 2021 in Dallas, TX. We were only there for 24 hours but it was 24 hours filled with fun.Read More
