We spent our Jamieson summer vacation 2021 in Florida last month. My little family and I packed up the car and road tripped there for a much needed 3 week vacation. This was our first time stopping in Mobile, Alabama instead of Pensacola, Florida as our half way point. I’m not sure if everyone was taking family vacations the same weeks as us but hotel rooms were either sold out or super expensive. As they say, if there’s a will then there’s a way, and we found exactly what we needed when we needed it for our trip.

The main purpose of going was to celebrate my husband’s Grandmother’s (surprise) 80th birthday gathering. We took a road trip within a road trip to Jacksonville, Florida for the birthday celebrations. It was a great weekend and I was finally able to meet a lot of my husband’s family in person for the first time. (Being a military family that lived on the other side of the country for 10 plus years made it hard to see each other.) Jordyn and Riley danced, played, and ran non-stop with their cousins the entire weekend. I was even able to get a group shot of the family and all extensions that came from the matriarch, Kris’ Grandma Ruth.

In addition to the birthday celebrations in Jacksonville, Florida, and staying in Tampa, Florida with my father-in-law for most of the trip, we spent a day in St. Petersburg at the new pier too. It was beautiful and the food and drinks at the restaurant called “Teak” were delicious. Not only was there a beach area but a splash pad for the little ones as well. We all truly enjoyed ourselves!

Traveling in 2021:
If you’re wondering to yourself about our Las Vegas trip and Florida trip happening within the same weeks then you are correct. When I say we took a real Jamieson summer vacation 2021 I mean it! Plenty of rest and sleep has been on the agenda since we have been home. But in all seriousness, after being in the house for so long last year it was nice to go out and about. In our masks of course because it’ll be a long time before I trust to be around without them. The glass half full of remaining distant from people is road tripping. I love being in the comfort of our own car, with our own germs, and operating on our own timeline. Since our girls love hotel stays it’s right up their alley too.

I’m already planning another road trip or two before the year is over. And contemplating locations for next year’s Jamieson family vacation. One thing that is for sure is no matter where we go, or what we do, it’s always a great time when we’re together.
