Hello everyone! Hopefully summer 2022 has been as kind to you as it has to the Jamieson family. Most of you know I usually take a little break from the internet world to reconnect in the real world during the summer. I don’t post as often on the blog or social media because it’s the one time of year I get to unplug with my girls. Especially Jordyn since school schedules can be exhausting during the school year. The Jamieson Family summer 2022 was truly a summer full of fun, love, and much needed rest!

My goal for this summer was to move freely. We (the girls and myself) completely relaxed the rules. We went to bed when we felt like it, we woke up when we felt like it, and we relaxed the rules all around. Although through trial and error we learned certain structures were still needed for Jordyn and Riley to thrive, it was so nice to go with the flow. For those of you with children in the traditional school system you understand how the strict Monday through Friday schedules can wear you down. By the end of the school year I’m looking forward to summer break as much as my children. Since we live in the south and it’s unbearably hot we don’t get much outside time. The time we did spend outside involved much needed water activities with our Barksdale family.

Jamieson Travels 2022:
One major highlight of summer for us was our trip to Chicago. It lined up perfectly to celebrate Jordyn’s birthday along with my Great Grandmother and little cousin. We combined the birthday celebration into a much needed family reunion and partied together. It was the perfect amount of family love and joy to celebrate being with one another. Especially after going 2 plus years without being able to see everyone.

On our drive to Chicago we experienced a few technical difficulties with our SUV. It completely shut down on us on the highway right outside of Little Rock, Arkansas. It turned on perfectly fine after a few hours. We still have no idea what quite happened and apparently neither does the dealership (sigh). But all of that to say- we ended up stopping in Little Rock overnight instead of our intended Memphis stay. It worked out (like it always does) because we had such a great stay that we decided to stop in Little Rock on the way back and explore around the hotel for a bit. The girls loved it. Especially the riding Bird scooters part.

To top the end of summer off with a cherry on top I FINALLY made it back to Washington DC! (Insert praise dance here) Kris had a TDY for work which means I got to tag along. This was a kid-free trip since I was only going for a few days AND ticket prices are crazy these days. I got to see and hug some of my favorite people, eat some of my favorite foods, and explore my favorite city. It was truly the recharge trip I needed before jumping back into the school year.

Now that we’re in the first week of September– school is back in session. The schedules have picked up, and the to-do list is endless. But because the Jamieson Family Summer 2022 was spent wisely, we are excited and prepared to get back to our regularly scheduled program. Here’s to a great last quarter of the year!
