Jamaica’s Independence Day is less than 2 weeks away on August 6th. What better way to celebrate than with one of people’s favorite drinks to come out of Jamaica? This easy but strong Jamaican Rum Punch is made with your classic Wray & Nephew white rum. If you’ve ever had this rum before then you understand why I used the word “strong” LOL. I will also add that if your Jamaican Rum Punch recipe is using a rum that isn’t Wray & Nephew you should question the authenticity of the recipe.

There is truly no one way to make this recipe. As long as it uses your standard Jamaican rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, and strawberry flavor or grenadine, you can adjust to your own taste. I added my own ingredient or two of choice for this recipe. One of them being ginger beer. My love for ginger beer is something I get from both the Belizean and Jamaican sides of my families. It adds a tasty extra flavor to the rum punch. My last ingredient is this homemade strawberry simple syrup. You can buy this ingredient from the store, but of course like everything else, homemade always tastes better.

Jamaica Independence Day is the perfect opportunity to indulge in some of your favorite Jamaican dishes. Support your local Jamaican restaurant by ordering dinner from them that evening. You can also support one of your favorite half Jamaican food bloggers by giving this recipe a try for dessert 😉
