Where are all of my salmon lovers? Go ahead, raise your hand nice and high because I definitely am! Salmon is a favorite in my household. We’re not picky people on how the salmon is cooked either. We love to eat it baked, pan-fried, in foil packets, etc. However, this honey garlic salmon is one of our favorites because of it serves as a dinner and meal prepped dish.
I meal prep on Sundays for myself and my husband. My honey garlic salmon is my husband’s protein request for his meal every week. My husband could eat the same meal every day for the rest of his life because he’s a creature of habit and schedules. Myself on the other hand need a mix up after two days of eating the same meal. Ha! Salmon is a great source of protein and omega 3 vitamin so we try to eat salmon once a week. Every two weeks at the absolute most.
One of my favorite parts of this recipe is that it only consists of three ingredients. Yes, you read that correctly. Three ingredients for a flavor packed and healthy recipe. This recipe has a teriyaki taste to it but you can always make your own adjustments. For example, sometimes I like to throw yellow onions in with the salmon while in marinades for a delicious added taste to the same and onions. As for other veggies, you can always throw those on the pan half through the salmon cooking, to avoid burning them. The marinade from the salmon mixing with the veggies is an added flavor your taste buds will appreciate.
Depending on the size of your salmon you will want to watch it carefully after the first 20 minutes of cooking. You want to avoid over cooking or burning your fish because it can happen quickly. (The marinade juices around the fish will likely burn while baking due to the honey.)
Now let’s get started on this yummy honey garlic salmon!
Honey Garlic Salmon
- 1.5 lbs Salmon
- 1/2 cup Soy Sauce
- 1/2 cup Honey
- 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- Dried or Fresh Parsley *to garnish
Place your filet of salmon in a gallon sized ziploc bag. (Keep the skin on the fish the fish will easily separate once cooked) Pour your soy sauce, honey, and minced garlic evenly on top of the fish.
Make sure there isn’t much air in the ziploc bag, close it, slightly massage the ingredients into the fish, and place the bag in the fridge (flesh side down in the marinade) for at least at hour. You can marinade overnight if you prefer.
Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees.
Line a baking dish with parchment paper or aluminum oil. Place your salmon filet in the center of the dish.
Pour the remaining marinade in the ziploc bag evenly over the salmon. Feel free to drizzle a little more honey (and garlic) on top of the fish if you’d like.
Place in the oven for 30 minutes (uncovered). Check on your fish at the 20 minute mark to be sure it’s cooking evenly. If not, you can turn your baking dish to even the cooking.
When your fish is done, take it out of the oven, and let sit to cool for 5 minutes.
Sprinkle your parsley over the salmon and enjoy!
