Hollywood Sugar Cookies

Hollywood Sugar Cookies

We are in the middle of award season and it’s been an exciting one so far. Every year I look forward to seeing my favorite celebrities dressed up in beautiful gowns and perfectly tailored suits. If I’m completely honest, I’ve hit that age where I only know about 15% of the people nominated or performing. Ha! With that said, what’s even more fun than the award show itself are the watch parties we get to participate in during the shows. What is an award show without being able to discuss the fashion and award winners in detail with our friends? And no party is complete without themed snacks. In keeping with the award show season theme, my daughter and I made homemade Hollywood Sugar Cookies. The ingredients used in cookies are super important and this is why we used Nellie’s Free Range Eggs in our recipe.

Nellie’s Free Range Eggs come from healthy hens with an abundant amount of roaming space, which makes them free range and Certified Humane. The eggs are nutrient-dense and a beautiful gold color, matching many of the award show trophies this year. To make it even better, Nellie’s Free Range Eggs supports small business and farmers by sourcing their eggs from small family-run farms.

Cookies are always a safe dessert at parties. These cookies will be even more fun to decorate after they’ve been made. If you want to take your watch party to the next level, you and your friends can decorate your cookies while you watch. Maybe even find some design inspiration for your Hollywood Sugar Cookies while you watch. Whatever you decide, all that matters is you get to eat your delicious cookies at some point during the party.

To make these fun and delicious cookies you will need:

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Flour
  • 2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 cup White Sugar
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 cup Salted Butter
  • 1 Nellie’s Free Range Egg
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 tsp Almond Extract
  • small tube black icing
  • small tube white icing
  • red food coloring
  • star cookie cutter

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. In a bowl cream your butter and sugar until it is smooth. You want it to be as smooth as possible so cream for about 5 minutes.

  3. Add your cinnamon, red food coloring, almond, and vanilla extracts to the creamed butter and sugar. Mix until your dough has turned to your desired pink/red color.

  4. In a separate bowl sift your flour and baking powder.

  5. Slowly add your dry ingredients to your wet ingredients using your mixer until just slightly combined.

  6. On a floured surface knead your dough until well combined and smooth. You can small amounts of water as you knead if your dough is falling apart.

  7. Cut your batch into two and roll one half out. You’re going to make these a thicker cookie so don’t roll them thinly.

  8. Use your cookie cutter to cut out the star shapes and put on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet. Repeat these last few steps with the other half of your cookie batch.

  9. Bake your cookies for 8-10 minutes. Let them cool off completely before decorating with your icing to make your personalized hollywood stars. Let you icing set and enjoy your cookies!
