Last week Jordyn and I flew out to Las Vegas from Tampa to spend my Great-Grandma’s birthday with her. Making it to see 93 years is truly a blessing. After the last year of craziness and uncertainty I’m thankful she’s happy and healthy. Grandma Lena’s 93rd birthday in Vegas was definitely one to remember. Tons of dancing, laughs, and genuine love to fill a stadium. And to think there were so many of us still missing from the celebration. I’m hoping next year Grandma Lena’s birthday celebration will include a majority if not all of the family. When you come from a very large family like ours getting everyone in one room can be a bit…tricky lol.

Jordyn and I stayed at our Aunt and Uncle’s beautiful timeshare just off the strip. Which was perfect for having a 6 year old in Vegas with us because, well, Vegas. Jordyn’s absolute favorite part of Vegas next to seeing her cousins was our day at the pool. We went to the pool at the OYO! Hotel on the strip where we had such a chill and pleasant time. We all got plenty of vitamin D and family bonding that day. Plus, what’s Vegas without a day or two at a Vegas pool?

Although Jordyn and I were only able to go for 3 days it was 3 days of much needed family time. I grew up in a tight-knit family. Living so far away from them weighs on me more than I can admit some days. Military life is truly a sacrifice and not for the weak because…man. Getting the chance to laugh until my head hurt and hug my family members means more than any words I can type. If you know my Uncle Michael then you know the laughs were nonstop LOL.

Celebrating Grandma Lena’s 93rd birthday in Vegas last week has taught me one thing for sure. I pray the Lord is as good to me as He has been to my Great-Grandma. Happy birthday Grandma Lena! We all love you so much!
