Last week was my daughter Jordyn’s fall break. The kids getting a week off for fall break here in Louisiana is easily one of my favorite parts of living here. We got no such thing growing up in suburban Illinois (boooo!) so we’re definitely taking advantage while we live here. This year we made a last minute decision to spend fall break 2021 in Dallas, TX. We were only there for 24 hours but it was 24 hours filled with fun.

The purpose of the trip was to take the girls to Medieval Times. The last time we went to Medieval Times it was Jordyn’s 1st birthday and she spent the entire time in the lobby area because it was too loud. (Oops…sorry again kid!) However, even though she’s been before we call this trip the “first time” experience for both of them. They absolutely LOVED it. Riley’s eyes were so wide and she kept saying “WHOA!” or “WOW!” the entire time. Funny story- once the knights started fighting Jordyn got really upset because she thought they were really fighting. It was so cute and innocent. Once we reassured her they were only play fighting for the show she had the time of her life.

We visited a few restaurants like a delicious Thai food spot that had drunken noodles for their $10 special. And of course we went to the Original House of Pancakes for brunch before heading back to Louisiana Friday afternoon. Road tripping has easily become our favorite way of travel since the pandemic started. The girls love hopping in the car knowing we’re heading to a hotel. Jordyn and Riley are obsessed with hotel stays which makes their Mama’s traveling heart so happy. Fall break 2021 in Dallas was not only a hit but a much needed break from everyday life. Even if it was only for a day.

Trip Details:
- We stayed at the Tru by Hilton hotel right in the Dallas Market Center. The staff were so friendly and loved the girls.
- We were walking distance to Medieval Times and the Design District. As a former city of Chicago resident- walking around cities without the need for a car is one of my favorite things to do.
- If you are sensitive to city sounds then this area or hotel may not be for you. We could hear the traffic from the highway next to the hotel but it didn’t bother us because we like sleeping with white noise.
- You can check out the quick tour of the hotel I created on TikTok or Instagram.
