Happy first Tuesday of August! I decided to take an impromtu break from the blog for the month of July. I took some time to soak up the last few weeks of summer break for my daughter. As well as, to enjoy exploring this beautiful state of Louisiana with my family since we’re still new here. I also took some time to regroup and rethink my strategy for my brand and business going foward. I’m going to continue to share majority scrumptious recipes on here, but I will transition to sharing more lifestyle and motherhood topics with my readers. I don’t want to box myself into one niche. There is so much more I love sharing with my readers. Hopefully you’re looking forward to this as much as I am.
Although it may be the end of summer 2019 for most school aged kids, there’s still plenty of summer left for the rest of us to enjoy. What did you do for fun this summer? Feel free to share in the comment section below. In the meantime: here’s a rundown of our activities and travels these last few weeks!
Nawlins’:
I spent the first weekend of July in New Orleans with my best friend, Tyree, at my first Essence Festival. It was also my first time visiting New Orleans. To say I had an amazing time would be an understatment. I fell in love with the NOLA architecture, culture, food, people, etc. It was even more amazing to be there surrounded by so many beautiful Black women just enjoying sisterhood.
Oh, and did I forget to mention we met Luke James and Kendrick Sampson at the dopest art studio named, Studio Be, while we were there? (insert fangirl squeals for multiple reasons)

Trap N’ Paint:
In mid July I attended my first event by myself. “Trap N’ Paint” came through Shreveport. Being a newbie here in town I don’t know anyone yet. But I didn’t want to miss this event so I went on my own. It was liberating because I learned to enjoy my own company while appreciating the fellowship of others. The music was great and I absolutely love how my painting turned out.

Mini Road Trip:
We took a “last horrah before school starts” mini trip to Lafayette, LA last weekend. Jordyn officially starts full day kindergarten next week (where has my baby gone?!). We wanted to take a quick family trip to spend some time together before the busy school year begins. We visited the local Children’s Museum of Acadiana, ate at some locally famous restaurants, stayed at the beautiful Home 2 Suites located in a super area, and even visited with friends who were in town at the same time.

As you can see we’ve been busy in the Jamieson household creating memories, exploring Louisiana, and eating delicious food. Although it’s the end of summer for Jordyn, I will be sharing a few more summer recipes on the blog before gearing up for fall with comfort recipes. We all know how much I love fall so be prepared for some yummy recipes headed your way for the last half of 2019!

Thanks for sharing, Sweetie I always enjoy your posts.
Thanks for reading, Aunt Rita! ☺️
