Happy first new recipe of 2021 everyone! The new year brings new goals for most people. One of the most common goals people share is eating better or losing weight. Although this Brown Sugar Baked Chicken Wings recipe isn’t considered “healthy”, it is an alternative to the usual fried option. I know this is an unpopular opinion but I prefer my wings baked or grilled. There’s just something about a good marinade on a baked/grilled wing that can’t be accomplished with frying.

I created this marinade for my grilled chicken a few years ago. I decided to add extra ingredients for this particular recipe and it turned out delicious. Which is why I’m here sharing these Brown Sugar Baked Chicken Wings recipe with all of you. One of the reasons I create baked recipes is to be sure everyone can make them. There are so many awesome cooking methods these days but not everyone has access to those methods. Creating recipes that only require an oven or a stove top may seem simple but they are also intentional. Before we get to the details here are a few tips before cooking.
Chicken Wing Tips:
- Marinating the chicken overnight always makes the chicken so much more flavorful and tender.
- Use a cooling rack to bake the wings on. It helps keep them crisp all around.

- Stovetop Mac & cheese and roasted broccoli are the perfect additions for a complete meal.
- Don’t forget to lightly sprinkle with brown sugar before putting them in the oven. Helps with the caramelization and flavor.

Brown Sugar Baked Chicken Wings
These brown sugar baked chicken wings are a delicious sweet and savory chicken wing recipe for family dinner, gathering with loved ones, or just because meal!
Ingredients
- 5 lbs Chicken Wings
- 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
- 1/2 Lemon Squeezed
- 3 Tbsp Olive Oil
- 2 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 2 Tbsp Brown Sugar
- 1 Tbsp Honey
- 2 tsp Poultry Seasoning
- 2 tsp Onion Powder
- 1 tsp Paprika
- 1 tsp Seasoned Salt
- 1/4 tsp Black Pepper
Instructions
-
Clean your chicken wings (I use vinegar), trim the extra fat off, and pluck any leftover feathers. Place the clean chicken in a large bowl.
-
Add the olive oil, minced garlic, fresh lemon juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, and all seasonings (poultry seasoning, onion powder, paprika, black pepper, and seasoned salt) to the chicken. Mix together well so the wings are evenly coated.
-
Cover the bowl with foil or plastic wrap and let it sit in the fridge for at least an hour or two. Overnight preferred.
-
Once it has marinated, line your baking sheet with foil and place your cooling rack on top.
-
Spray the cooling rack with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
-
Place the chicken wings on the rack with an inch between them if possible. Sprinkle with extra seasonings and brown sugar on top if you'd like. (Not necessary just extra flavor)
-
Bake for 25-30 minutes on one side then flip the wings on the rack and bake for another 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
-
Let them rest for 10 minutes and enjoy!
