Happy Black History Month everyone! This month 90% of my blog posts will concentrate on various connections to the Black community. I want to celebrate this month, in writing, through Black creativity and food, all while highlighting the beauty of Blackness. I will share posts about Black businesses, Black culture, Black love, and the importance of the Black family. I’m starting this year’s Black History Month celebration off by sharing my personal 5 favorite Black owned items in my home. From artwork to cooking to self care; these Black businesses are some of my favs!
Buttaz & Wax
If you’ve been watching my stories these last few months then you’ve seen me post about the whipped body butters from Buttaz & Wax. My girl, and owner, Keisha whips these divine butters up by hand. Post shower moisturizing has never smelled so good. My own personal favorite body butter is the 876. Vibranium is a close second. Check out her body care items here.
Danielle Harth Art
One of my favorite and most meaningful pieces of art in my home was painted by Danielle Harth Art. It’s a piece called “Psalms 1:3“ because it is the inspiration for the painting. Psalms 1:3 reads: “…and (s)he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringers forth fruit in [her] season, [her] leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever (s)he doeth shall prosper.” Danielle’s art gallery is stunning and each piece tells a beautiful story. Check out her work here and reach out for custom paintings you want to add to your own home!
My Iconic Tee

For those of you who love a good Black girl magic mug or nostalgic Black tv show hoodie, My Iconic Tee is for you. My blogger sister, Lauren, is the creator and owner. SheMy Black women powerhouse mug is a beautiful reminder of the power of Black women. Especially during this time. You can check out more of the collection here.
Noble Brand

I’m a newbie fan of this candle company but I’m no where near a newbie candle fan. I fell in love with Noble Brand candles the moment I smelled them. Matter of fact, Satin & Silk is burning while I type this. If you’re looking for quality candles with scents ranging from floral & fruity, to earthy & elegant or crisp & clean, then you need one or five of Sydney’s handmade candles. You can check out her website here for more details and to order your own.
Chef Curl Ardee

As a Black food blogger my spice cabinet is one of my prides of joy. One of the best line of seasonings I added last summer was the Chef Curl Ardee line. I can’t explain enough how flavorful and versatile the seasonings are. My two personal favorites are the Lemon & Herb and Original seasonings. For those of you who enjoy spice like myself the original seasoning is right up your alley. You can check out the spice collection here.
These are a handful of my favorite Black owned items. I would also like to honorably mention Black Girl Sunscreen for your everyday SPF needs. You can find her line in Target stores or go directly to the website to order here. What are your favorite Black owned businesses? Please share the website and recommended items in the comment section!
