Entry Way Decor & Makeover

March 2, 2021 Leave a Comment

entry way decor and makeover

March is here which means spring is right around the corner! We’ve almost made it through winter which is quite impressive when you consider 2021 is trying to out-do 2020. Whew, what a time to be alive. I decided this year one of my personal goals was to concentrate on more home decor. I found myself filled with ideas for every room, but never actually putting the pieces together in reality. For the month of March I’m going to share transformation Tuesdays for different places in my home. One of the first blank spaces I transformed was our front entry way area. The pieces for my entry way decor and makeover perfectly fell in place once I got going. It was meant to be!

Snowpocalypse 2021

To say the year 2021 has started off with a bang would be an understatement. If you’ve been keeping up with the winter storm that hit the south last weekend then you’ve seen the destruction it left behind. Living in the Shreveport, LA area ourselves means we were directly impacted by Snowpocalypse 2021 too. We lost water and power Wednesday evening. The power was out for about 16 hours which is MUCH better than what others have endured. We lost water from Wednesday evening to Saturday afternoon. And it’s only a few hours of water here and there.

Southern University Museum of Art at Shreveport

Three years ago while still living in Montana, I came across a section in Essence magazine that caught my eye. Two pages of guide to Black historical sites all over the state of Louisiana. This was perfect timing considering we knew Shreveport, Louisiana would be our next base assignment. I immediately searched the list for Shreveport locations and to my surprise found two of them. One of those locations is the Southern University Museum of Art at Shreveport. I finally had the opportunity to visit this museum last week in celebration of Black history month.

4 course Valentine's Day meal

Valentine’s Day is just under a week away. If you’re like most of us you’re trying to figure out what to do. Especially this year since inside dining is not recommended in most states. Not to mention the polar blast that will impact the entire country during Valentine’s Day weekend. This means outdoor dining isn’t an option for the majority of us, including those of us in the “warmer” climate. I decided to put together this recipe roundup for a suggested at home Valentine’s Day celebration. This homemade 4 course Valentine’s Day meal gives you the restaurant feel in your own home. It’s truly the best of both worlds!

Jamieson Family Vacation in Florida

January 26, 2021 Comments : 3

family vacation in Florida

We spent the 2020 holiday season in Florida with my father-in-law and my husband’s extended family. It was a much needed family vacation in Florida after spending most of the year at home. We usually travel at least 3 times a year. But Florida was our one and only trip for 2020 thanks to you know what. We decided to road trip instead of flying to travel safely around less people. The good news about not traveling all year my husband had PLENTY of vacation days saved up. We were able to stay for about a month. A month of family time, good food, belly laughs, and relaxation.

art of pausing when necessary

If you’re an avid follower of my blog you probably noticed I was MIA last week. I normally push through tiredness but I’m learning the art of pausing when necessary. Last week was a much needed pause and I’m feeling refreshed for the new quarter and year.
